I am going to California this week to attend, host, finish planning my sister's baby shower. It's been such a crazy few months trying to get her list together, plan the food, the favors, the linens, etc. Whoever said planning a baby shower was fun wasn't 1,700 miles away from the destination. But thanks to her good friends Pammie, Laura, Shirley and Anna we are going to pull it off with style!<div><br /></div><div>I also get to see the baby for the first time. Jnet has arranged for us to do a 4-D ultrasound with video tomorrow night. I am so excited to see her face and watch her move. We don't have a name for her yet but I am thinking maybe tomorrow night we will have a better idea of what it should be.</div><div><br /></div><div>Things are going really well in the Gibson household. I hope to have some very exciting news to share with you in the next so stay tuned........</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-59561660822804210722009-11-04T16:02:00.004-06:002009-11-04T16:10:03.104-06:00New photos<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYk4WK99diA4jAxbjaO56Hb9DEdY7KW0w6bEa9Pc3Yri6zRGOMHVlJdWUEBXplFGzXdOTIzHP9_WfFam_PcaTfD2FWDCLzpT2KMDrnojl5iPJkoWny0pI2H-8sGjeKCfMZD0Z1mPtFllD1/s1600-h/P7140074.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYk4WK99diA4jAxbjaO56Hb9DEdY7KW0w6bEa9Pc3Yri6zRGOMHVlJdWUEBXplFGzXdOTIzHP9_WfFam_PcaTfD2FWDCLzpT2KMDrnojl5iPJkoWny0pI2H-8sGjeKCfMZD0Z1mPtFllD1/s200/P7140074.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400373855531442210" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWC5DK5la9FvAC2_juyd0S2jtUOMp9cT3sNuZe_A6BIRzNRSE_cfusVZaLGzZ6w3FSq1M1BXSuQTGkNobtpTQrJNHO5OGC-1nR_eV6474dWVVlHDK7YUj2ATcVggx8pofnbabuql1WDSkd/s1600-h/P7130053.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWC5DK5la9FvAC2_juyd0S2jtUOMp9cT3sNuZe_A6BIRzNRSE_cfusVZaLGzZ6w3FSq1M1BXSuQTGkNobtpTQrJNHO5OGC-1nR_eV6474dWVVlHDK7YUj2ATcVggx8pofnbabuql1WDSkd/s200/P7130053.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400373841419429762" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga90HWW7Ev2fIBOPq4GfMAQ-aqarl3iGnK7pGTcgkmzGeoVzvWVV-jAI_r_yde4voCt-KZkrehhGUL_hj7oPQnhHTYt-tblUGbAmaISk8Un4vbmhyphenhyphenyIp-i3IqJHL72hgnEVBGWtYE0kizA/s1600-h/P7130049.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga90HWW7Ev2fIBOPq4GfMAQ-aqarl3iGnK7pGTcgkmzGeoVzvWVV-jAI_r_yde4voCt-KZkrehhGUL_hj7oPQnhHTYt-tblUGbAmaISk8Un4vbmhyphenhyphenyIp-i3IqJHL72hgnEVBGWtYE0kizA/s200/P7130049.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400373838760516914" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>I am posting a bunch of photos today because it has been a while since I have shared.<div><br /></div><div>Things are still crazy busy for us. Last Saturday, Jeff's mom took McKayla to get formal pictures taken in a kimono. It is tradition at seven years old that they have pictures taken in ceremonial dress. These are just the proofs that Jeff's dad sent me but they are so darn cute!!!<div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-41088308464759163692009-07-24T13:17:00.003-05:002009-07-24T13:21:19.275-05:00Grad school? So we are back from vacay and really enjoying our time alone without the kids. I miss them terribly but it has been a very long time since Jeff and I were able to spend this much quality time together. I think we need to do this every year!<div><br /></div><div>A short note today and then maybe some pictures of the vacay early next week. I have a good friend - who I cannot thank enough for opening my eyes to new philanthropic experiences by the way - who is away at grad school right now. It is a program that I would be extremely interested in pursuing but it is very intimidating. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have studied for five years now, some days were harder than others but I got through it all. I will graduate - finally! - December 18th and couldn't be more thrilled. So, the question that lies ahead is do I dare grad school? I suppose it depends on what I want to be when I grow up. I still don't know. The program is intense but tailored just for us fundraisers and the group is really small - 25 students per year accepted. </div><div><br /></div><div>Hmmmm, a mind bending pondering thing this is.....we will see</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-57318531068757370232009-07-11T11:43:00.002-05:002009-07-11T11:44:34.114-05:00CaliforniaWe're in Cali today! It's nice to see everyone once again. It had been almost three years since Kayla and Jeff have been here and I think they are overwhelmed with all the stuff there is for us to do. We have parents to visit, friends to see, Mickey Mouse is on the list too. I will post some pix when we return. Until then ....Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-6063060017156257282009-07-01T16:54:00.003-05:002009-07-01T16:58:14.769-05:00Shopping with the Diva!<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>When we were little mom would take us school shopping at Miller's Outpost. Remember those! We would get to try on clothes and she was really good about letting us pick out what we wanted.<div><br /></div><div>Well today Justice had a BIG sale going on so Kayla and I went shopping. We had a blast because she is finally old enough to pick out outfits instead of just a shirt or a pair of jeans. She can put things together and accessorize and the store had it all. Of course it was all from the 80's and bright neon colors. Too funny if you ask me.</div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeZQhP-6hSgsnq8ovRS8mJbg_jnk-qIv-0-0Vhrq69KTdSNj4bZcA9WwFDXhssXVXghyMjlXorAaih3ZfkMm325Fs8XVYyX5s9Ldj0JfE8zIBbupLhBYiMD2eWa8-fV6-feNb3-CWDxmO7/s200/securedownload.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353614216409832882" /><div><br /></div><div>She picked out about 4 outfits which are just super darling but the biggest thing she bugged me about today was a pink sequin hat. I told her she could either have the hat or the new school bag....the hat won. It was a fun day, memories and all.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-53339477650010969792009-06-30T09:58:00.003-05:002009-06-30T10:11:29.458-05:00Summer camp<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Ian is at Creighton soccer camp this week. I can't believe how fast summer is flying by. This camp seemed a lifetime away just a month ago. We took him to camp on Sunday afternoon and he was a bundle of nerves. It's the school he wants to attend when he graduates because they have the most amazing soccer program and a good medical school. Dare I say it.....doctor maybe??? Who knows right now because it really is about the soccer to him. <div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>We got him there and things went very smoothly. We were impressed with the organization, the kids are great and Cindy Warming sure has things organized! After we got him all checked in and were ready to head up to his dorm room - yep a freshman dorm room! we spotted Coach Warming talking to some of his guys. Well Ian just about fainted seeing him. "Mom! that's Coach Warming! OMG it's Coach!" If you can imagine yourself seeing George Clooney or maybe Julia Roberts this is exactly what his reaction was like. It was pretty awesome.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>So, we get him upstairs and Jeff (spoiled rotten from Pepperdine) is shocked that the dorms are tiny and have no carpet. Welcome to real dorm living my dear! I am of course trying not to hyperventilate as I have a flash forward to doing this same routine when he is 17. We get him all unpacked and show him the bathroom and common room and he tells us to hurry up so he can go meet up with the others to watch the Brazil VS USA game. As we walk him over I ask if I can take some pictures of him to which I get..."mooooom!" I guess that's a no. I do get one though. But when we get to the science lecture hall where the game is playing Ian takes off without so much as a hug, a goodbye, nada! I did get the hug finally but it was outside the lecture hall, away from the door and down the hall so no one would see us. Uh! Ungrateful little monster : )</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmZGqMpXwlJ2GaMsrlvJprHWy3Gu1Y31MPxSslJRWk-urIEHXnSkse_rMTsFD7Xkt8DGGPTguvbK8IIq6hya9qKrlCP4Y8KQdk-wK__UD4VZTvGJUOB7-vaf8rr9JfnDHQieCgMgaBh5L9/s200/P6280001.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353138301699444258" /></div><div>I get a phone call every night around 10pm to tell me that he is having a great time but he has to run because the guys want him to come and hang out in the commons. Where did my teenager go and when did this college man show up! I am so glad he is having a good time even if it is breaking my heart that he is growing up so fast.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-24882623995214982242009-05-12T12:47:00.002-05:002009-05-12T12:54:15.977-05:00Today and the days before it....Today is Tuesday, just an ordinary day. But I decided today that I needed to put my life back together from the disaster I call school and Relay. Today, I decided to start doing the little things again that I have missed out on for the last year and a half. I have submersed myself in all things school and Relay For Life and while both have been worthwhile I have missed the little things in life. Especially the little things that now have big feet and toes.<div><br /></div><div>I played on the swing set this weekend for hours with the kids. It was so much fun, I even got a little motion sickness : ) I have been so consumed by my other obligations that I had forgotten how to go outside and just "be" with them. We played with chalk, played hopscotch and even went on a small meaningless walk. It was very nice just to be with them again.</div><div><br /></div><div>Mother's Day was this weekend as well. I miss my mom terribly. It gets harder with time, did you know that? Not easier. Anyone who has ever said the pain will ease with time has never lost a parent. It does not get easier. The memories fade and aren't as brilliant and that hurts the most. My mom loved Erma Bombeck and I remember vividly when she died because my mom shared the poem Erma had written that so many of us have seen. My mom too was busy in life and wished she had slowed down to just "be" with us.</div><div><br /></div><div>Today, in honor of my mom and Erma I have decided to let the homework go, let the urgent emails slide, get off my tush and go outside with my kids before their feet are bigger than mine.</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-36369921743734085062009-04-11T08:46:00.003-05:002009-04-11T08:54:14.144-05:00In Loving Memory...Last night I found out that my uncle passed away during surgery. I had to write it down somewhere so here I am. He went in to have an aneurism on his kidney taken care of. It was causing problems for his heart and his kidneys. They were going to do a renal bypass and repair the aneurism at the same time. It was to be a 4 hour surgery but turned into a 7.5 hour surgery instead. He took 10 units of blood and they did what they could but his body just couldn't handle the stress of it all. <div><br /></div><div>My uncle was the most vibrant, energetic and loving man you could ever meet. He was still playing tennis and kicking everyone's butt up until recently. His dimples were the size of saucers and his laughter was contagious. We would listen to him tell stories about his family and just howl with laughter. He was my grandmother's youngest brother, but because of his age he was more like a big brother to my mom. He and my sweet Aunt Bonnie were my mom's favorite relatives. </div><div><br /></div><div>Jeff and I will miss him very much....</div><div><br /></div><div>In loving memory</div><div>Leon F. Ian is going to his first dance this Friday and he has a date! I know, just a crazy thought. I am so excited for him on the one hand but at the same time I have this knot of dread in my stomach. <div><br /></div><div>When did he grow up? </div><div><br /></div><div>Was I seriously not watching?</div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, this very nice girl in his class called this weekend to ask him if he would be her date. WOW! I don't think I ever asked a boy to a dance, not at that age any way. So, now he has a date to the dance and is looking for just the right t-shirt to wear. Too funny, a t-shirt. Maybe I have nothing to worry about if he is just worried about a t-shirt. : )</div><div><br /></div><div>If he asks Jeff for cologne then I know I am in big trouble!</div><div><br /></div><div>I will keep you posted......</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-28629513680948840102009-03-21T08:42:00.007-05:002009-03-23T14:02:39.620-05:00We're still hereI have been bad! It's been way too long since I posted anything here hasn't it? Sorry about that. The holidays snuck up on me and once Thanksgiving arrived it all snow balled from there.<div><br /></div><div>We have been up to pretty much the same things as usual. Ian finished soccer the day after Christmas but we start again this weekend : ) We got through out first semester of junior high with only minor damage. The grades were great, the schedule was crazy. He is getting so big...check out this picture Jeff took of him over the break.</div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 152px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5qkmYs7wBTJGkBuSapEO17pgXSprZypFxpSFE7AkI8-NDbaR8iC8303AemwK0a7JHz9If-WBgB4DVE-7U4fSs0uT6yAaer-8r-xh_nx3NupbwG3Q65o3NRmwzxuoL7bJRcjUXxG0qmJUp/s200/Ian+zoo+2008.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5288981675731535106" /><div><br /></div><div>Isn't he handsome? And so big, it's just not fair. Something about the photo reminds me once again that he is not four years old but on his way to full fledged teenager-hood. Bummer</div><div><br /></div><div>We had lots of visitors for the holidays. My dad came into town mid December, quickly followed by Jeff's folks and then my sister and her husband. They all finally left after the first of the year. It was nice to have them all here. My house is so quiet now it's almost creepy. </div><div><br /></div><div>We did the usual during the holidays, went to the zoo - our favorite place. It's really different to go to the zoo in the winter. Many of the animals are hibernating and all the waterfalls are frozen solid. Pretty cool to look at. We also went to the movies, dinners and the museum. It was a nice holiday.</div><div><br /></div><div>The kids went back to school this week, I start next week. McKayla is still in Brownies and we have some fun meetings and field trips coming up. We are going to Build-A-Bear and to a bakery to make our own cakes and maybe a luau at the end of the year.</div><div><br /></div><div>Other than that life is just moving along. The kids are going to start sports soon, Ian soccer and McKayla softball. We are looking forward to spring. We have not had much snow but for three weeks in December is was really cold. I mean below zero cold... for days on end. It was nuts. I think the kids would be fine if we had no snow this year and just skipped over to spring. We will see what happens. So far it has been a warmer and drier January.</div><div><br /></div><div>Sorry again it's been so long. I will post some photos of the holidays as soon as I get the camera emptied. Hope you all had a good Christmas.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-38548873364470423502008-11-25T14:19:00.003-06:002008-11-25T16:55:57.361-06:00Happy Turkey DayHappy Turkey Day everyone! We are very excited about Thanksgiving. We are taking a trip to Lake Havasu, AZ to spend the holiday with the WHOLE family. Yes, I said whole family. Which means that my sister, her husband and their "child", my brother, his wife and six of their girls - including the very married and VERY pregnant daughter. And don't forget about Pa. I think there are going to be 16 people staying in that house with one crazy dog. Wow! That's a lot of people in a 3 bedroom house. : )<div><br /></div><div>Even with the crowd we are really excited. It has been 3 1/2 years since I have been to the house. I was a little sad at first because the last time I was there, I was soaking up the sun in the pool with my mom. But the other night it occurred to me that this is exactly what Mom would have wanted. All of us together making messes, creating chaos and tearing her beloved house apart. It is what she lived for, even if she said we all drove her crazy. The more people in the house, the happier she was. So, this weekend we will make her turn in her grave by eating at the coffee table and on the couch, mess up her kitchen and leave all our junk strung throughout the house. Happy Thanksgiving Mom!</div><div><br /></div><div>And to all you, a blessed and happy Thanksgiving as well.</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-77603569230941496902008-11-17T16:33:00.002-06:002008-11-17T16:38:42.554-06:00More firesFor the last few days, California has been on fire...again! This time it hit much closer to home. Our old neighborhood was evacuated along with many of our dear friends. We are still waiting to hear from everyone, but so far our best friends homes' were left intact. We have heard about a few other families that we knew through school or sports activities that have lost their homes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in California right now. We miss you all and hope and pray that everyone is safe.<div><br /></div><div>This is one of the things I do not miss about California. The Santa Ana winds are just horrible and can bring hot hurricane force with them. Our neighborhood was beautiful, up on a hill away from the city but with that beauty we were surrounded by brush. The light of one single match could mean mass devastation to all. Apparently, this is what happened this past weekend. Someone was careless or maybe even spiteful and now 50 apartments are gone as well as over 30 homes, the homes of our neighbors. </div><div><br /></div><div>I am so sad about the destruction I cannot even begin to explain. I just pray and hope that the loss of these buildings did not include the loss of life.</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-4251372136569529962008-11-07T09:12:00.004-06:002008-11-07T09:47:09.732-06:00It's been a while! What a month! October was just busy, busy, busy. The family came in for a visit the day after my last post and I have not been able to organize myself again until today. <div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvG_AjzE9otH8M1G1JHAeOOrh-p_yxUrbypAnRoK8ea9NL8YMfMycUg94Lujd3zV1HWdAXGfnIPeCU_Ci3e5NSfFKvaaBVD9FIwam1YkaWOp0TMnowyDmTYdJJjX5o2XJ6_rVvY8WmXkzw/s200/PA170345.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265937183080775986" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgelVzU74Prb7sjK3p8h3c_opH9JMy5fbLyb3RcBBhWbFbBIDMHUSsCOnOelvX4k_K4H-GDR76NXuAXDoZFeRLkTwRe08ervwiAS1EyE6TZ2Z8NfYKLMgLI586a_jmX_uOsBKAlF2MkWpze/s200/PA180366.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265937193767947330" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfA01xGJpJy2RUvjW78EXVFnJ7pkCA4fRcjopESqPKv7O2pJYhi_GaidQfHZIWhZZIjveCnYLard3bw8-yyl_6EH5z8e4ttHjBgwLShjwRtOs3FPOx3oIdYtBntHyX_TKAX7yu2sOJPalD/s200/PA170360.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265937187753984290" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOWeYfg2XptY6vgG6s2O6VDAMdochjMAQBXyQlUqwbaMw9tQWlankUTtbfU7ShLUF9vWqfhCET_mKnc1ZTGuGL7qy5mLSglJ8tSe3zw-f4htnaRUq4tYiBpyGbdYBXUxqmBnu4rAzadSFl/s200/PA310391.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265937203853806514" /></div><div>Jnet and Dad came in for about a week and we had such a great time. We went to the zoo and we went to Vala's. We carved our pumpkins ( a bit early because they were rotten by Halloween) and we shopped and ate and had lots and lots of fun. </div><div><br /></div><div>Since they left, Ian has finished the official soccer season. We had to squeeeeeeze games in at the last minute because we had over a week of rain here. He starts his indoor session tonight. He is playing futsol for the winter to help him gain strength with his foot skills. I think it will be fun for him. We also had a really warm two weeks (now it is gone) but it was nice to just be outside and enjoy the warm weather. Halloween was spectacular because it was still pretty warm out. We all wore long sleeve shirts with no jackets. Awesome!</div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieSr3AgqonPvQKp7FIcUFAmm7_JVhTC43jCKH-FWcBuiTNpuGtJpg1_LbeRBeWBjfr1s1TNN0iz-gZcsNd7GR503g5ROuLCZUTExTE0r9NFzla5WTsNM8xgJHV-umLFCAyj5iotC6JTU-Z/s200/PA310380.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5265935952935670610" /><br /></div><div>Today, we were supposed to get some of that snow from the north blizzard but it never came. I am a little bummed, the first snow is so pretty and it doesn't stick! I guess we will save that for another day later this month. We are getting ready for holidays. I put away all the Halloween stuff and will start decorating for Christmas this weekend. I know it is early but we will be gone for a week during Thanksgiving, so I can't do it then. </div><div><br /></div><div>It has been a very busy month for us, too much to write about. But today is a nice relaxing day and I wanted to catch everyone up. Enjoy the pics!</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-2258496341652434402008-10-14T09:28:00.003-05:002008-10-14T09:34:45.785-05:00Fires<div style="text-align: left;">Today as the weather chills - literally - I am reading the news about the fires in California. Cali is beautiful when the days are 80 degrees and it is February. But the brutal side of Cali can be ugly. The Santa Ana winds are like nothing you have felt, the hot air is hard to breathe in and of course super dangerous to the dry areas. I went to school for a year at Cal State Northridge and lived in Chatsworth while I was there. So these fires are just around the corner from where I used to live. I just wanted to share this photo of the fires. It is devastating, but beautiful in an ugly way. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlCEVNups3MZu0HIvLpa1LOYD3dnfuPdNAtsu2fg3ejoEbkDT5uhabvQR3QdMuBxAh8UcxXw90oLBJbLd0CysoHvtzVFK175uRk-TVV2QJkRPZrA96DFKKJGj7lWBVXDYxFynALBCjZBvF/s200/fires.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257017592355777138" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">We hope that everyone in Cali is safe and that you are all stocked up on some Zyrtec! I just take pictures of them. This is a the Arbor Day Farm. Kayla is in the tree house with these wonderful fabrics that you can move and tie together to make different the tree house look different. It was very cool, but sort of hard to describe. Oh well, here is my picture. You know for as much as we have going on in our lives there is really nothing to report this week. We are getting ready for our fall break next week, which is exciting because my Dad and Jnet are coming to visit. But other than that we are just moving along right now. I guess that is good, no news is good news, right?<div><br /></div><div>The weather is changing, but much slower than I expected. It has cooled down some but we are still having very pleasant days, over 70 degrees and rain maybe once a week. The geese are still hanging out in the yard in the early morning and late afternoon and the leaves are slowly changing. </div><div><br /></div><div>That's about it folks. Soccer is almost done - well outdoor soccer that is. We start Futsol indoor soccer next month. That is something new for us and we are excited to see how the boys react to a heavier ball. </div><div><br /></div><div>Have a good weekend everyone and maybe I will have something exciting to tell you about next week!</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-85064682516633637882008-10-01T08:58:00.004-05:002008-10-01T09:14:17.256-05:00Boobs!<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG7vuf13MRUqbOePzkFOPLpLohixtxa-HBSDH2xc-oJWXHZwphEDH2JpqMYLoefWBDdSNT8e6vjM9SozBKEC8AI8PXXUhCIECl_6vkTqOp2-SS6MxTiDVPY_gPmbVAQLg0j-igXojCn6Pw/s1600-h/Breast+Cancer+Ribbon.gif"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG7vuf13MRUqbOePzkFOPLpLohixtxa-HBSDH2xc-oJWXHZwphEDH2JpqMYLoefWBDdSNT8e6vjM9SozBKEC8AI8PXXUhCIECl_6vkTqOp2-SS6MxTiDVPY_gPmbVAQLg0j-igXojCn6Pw/s200/Breast+Cancer+Ribbon.gif" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5252188467976466098" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Go get your boobs checked!!</span></span></div><div><br /></div>So, did you think I was going to write something terrible after that title??!! I personally love the Yoplait lids, I have been saving for weeks and I also love the pink M&M's that are on sale at Target and most grocery stores. Also, the Susan G. Komen online store usually has some fantastic goodies to buy this month so go check that page out too.</div><div><br /></div><div>So, go have those "girls" checked out, go buy some great stuff to help support breast cancer research and may all of you be healthy and happy as you eat your pink M&M's this month! I am reluctantly getting excited about the seasons changing. Winter was really hard for me last year so you can understand why I am not ready for ice, snow and sub-zero temperatures. <div style="text-align: center;"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPUwWrYDwoiMNyqF3wrtoEGRjB5X9-IA98jw3GJFGZmtI6XOCMp2ZRTJoBIUPYGkRlOZcp9r9UIspbGjch7JFpmLzvMvUby2VsTqh4_EG7SQucbCWkBL7agMpErt8N8wjQgUiJRxaVR2IX/s200/DSC_5472.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251601726091943154" /><br /></div><div>But, I do love fall. I always have loved fall; the changing of the leaves, the crisp cool nights, the football season, and of course Halloween. I have told you that the geese are a singing the leaves are a changing, right? Well, tonight we have about 50 or so geese in the field behind our house. For those of you who don't know what our yard looks like, we have no house behind us yet so we have four vacant lots directly behind us. These geese are walking through the field getting some goodies before bed time. I know from experience that they will keep coming back to the fields for a week or so and then get ready to take flight. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoUG1Gnlkhf8buRDbvlZHmCBV9I7FH3-CwYFvDJK1lupFy6ll9c9ldoKf4719f0ykh7hJmv1rrU1l3LXVvrwSWc3HhElQZuYCLnuSbEdEzIJGcgNpqrBFKqPbf7LN_S8eeMo3PKYkZpA5z/s200/DSC_5471.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251601429342704754" /><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I love the geese and the beauty of their majestic flight. They are so graceful when they land and so hypnotic when they fly in their perfect "V". I am glad we are here and I can experience something new. Hey, maybe I am ready for it to turn cold after all. Hmmm, we will see when that first snow comes how I am feeling.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0hRck-8Y_IBXoGw2s6y2VpjLU6kWaM57J-P5Y4b7wj5BaWqwTPOJnOYeTofQdiP4_p-zNO17BK7mbkyAFnnAU7UfoDOpOH0BxOkvWspL3N9KB4sFO7-gQyXCduoijbGwqghcJonlfmFg0/s200/DSC_5473.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5251601441367097442" /></div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-29256017963992673812008-09-28T14:13:00.002-05:002008-09-28T14:18:00.671-05:00Go football! What a great weekend I had huh? USC lost to the Oregon Beavers, the Irish won against Purdue! Yee-haw. The only way it would have been better is if Notre Dame beat USC...all in good time my friends, all in good time. : )<div><br /></div><div>We had a few soccer games this weekend, the football games and bought some Halloween decorations. The weather is still really beautiful. The days are warm, the nights are cool and it is sunny all day long. Very nice. I know it won't last for long, the geese and the leaves keep telling me that the cold is on its way. So for now I am still wearing shorts, still sipping on cold coffee drinks and enjoying the glorious weather.</div><div><br /></div><div>Today, we went shooting at the archery range. It has been a while since I worked on my skills, but I only hit one elk in the eye and all the others were straight kills. I am hoping Jeff will at least take me turkey hunting this year. I know I am a girl and I have to go to the bathroom all the time, but I want a turkey too. Wow, I just whined like a girl too, better knock that stuff off.</div><div><br /></div><div>Hope you all had a great weekend too. Loves and kisses!</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-76229023146667408122008-09-26T09:23:00.002-05:002008-09-26T09:27:16.882-05:00Bored...I got bored with the old template so I thought I would try something new today. You know though it probably has more to do with the fact that I am not on facebook (thanks a lot Jill!) and I felt like I needed to mix things up a bit.<div><br /></div><div>Do you know that I spent like 2 hours on that thing yesterday? I was talking to my nieces and Jill and my friend from Oakdale. It was fun but not very productive. My niece Ashli and I were both supposed to be paying attention in class and were instead writing on each other's wall and then emailing each other. I tell ya, technology is great but very distracting! You know darn well I am going to go play with it some more later too! : )</div><div><br /></div><div>Oh and before I go, just want to say one more thing..... GO BEAVERS!!!!!!!!! I am wearing orange today people!!!! If you don't know what I am talking about go check out who just beat the No. 1 team in the nation baby!!</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-14066655415869369442008-09-19T15:09:00.005-05:002008-09-19T16:26:12.953-05:00Dallas, Relay, sick kids and money! It's been a while my friends. I have had two very busy weeks. <div><br /></div><div>Last weekend I went to Dallas...yes while there was a hurricane. You know me, I don't do easy. I went to Dallas for a leadership conference for the American Cancer Society. We had a really great time but we were a little worried that the storm was coming to get us. I learned a lot, cried a lot more and met some really fabulous people. You know what I love best about Relay? I meet the most fabulous people who are so generous, kind and just fun to be with. I love to Relay!</div><div><br /></div><div>Sick kids, well one sick kid and one sick dog. Jeff called me Saturday while I was on a break to tell me that my puppy dog had an ear infection. Poor little dude. He winced when a friend of ours went to pet his ears and Jeff just knew he was not doing so well. $200 later, we have more meds than we could ever need and a healthy dog. </div><div><br /></div><div>So, as I am on my way to the vet on Monday to get Gunther's ears cleaned out again my cell phone rings. It is Ian and he has a throbbing headache and his throat is on fire (that is the way he described it to me) Another visit to a different kind of clinic and Ian has a sinus infection. More meds on the counter for us! Not a good week for meds and doctors - or maybe it was a good week for them, they got my $$</div><div><br /></div><div>And finally some money! Lots of money actually. When I was filling out my financial aid packet this past February, they asked me to fill out a generic scholarship form as well. It asks some basic questions about organizations you belong to, awards, major, etc. Nothing big and it is mostly fill in the blank. I filled it out and never thought about it again until Wednesday. On Wed, I got the most fabulous letter that stated a group from the school wants to give me a $1000 scholarship for the year! Yahooey! I was so excited that when I called to accept the dinner invitation for the award recipients a box of rocks fell out of my mouth. I couldn't think or speak or anything. The assistant just giggled at me and said she understood. Oh well, box of rocks and all I got me a scholarship and I didn't even have to type up a 3 page essay (like some of the other applications I filled out). Very exciting stuff.</div><div><br /></div><div>All in all my week wasn't bad. Sick kids but some money in the bank. Nice week. Let's see what next week brings us? Probably snow!</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-50228352850696563342008-09-08T17:30:00.004-05:002008-09-08T17:35:47.835-05:00New table<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOzuPc5T3JJlJlonR6UebOthN414EitC58lsJgajx9eIfnX0xuCUy9fqsZk1l5n4VyBtUaTDuscq0Mo_TxjVGRxu4JdXJUuWb9FJSiCHebl-W2QzGUETG97Ch6vHyBg8CcHwYQoDmDbxsI/s1600-h/P9070282.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOzuPc5T3JJlJlonR6UebOthN414EitC58lsJgajx9eIfnX0xuCUy9fqsZk1l5n4VyBtUaTDuscq0Mo_TxjVGRxu4JdXJUuWb9FJSiCHebl-W2QzGUETG97Ch6vHyBg8CcHwYQoDmDbxsI/s200/P9070282.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243782525256932322" /></a><br /></div>I know it's not terribly exciting news but I had to share that we bought a new table this weekend. The WHOLE family is coming for Christmas this year and I just had no place to put everyone for a family dinner. Jeff and I have been looking for some time for something a little larger and we finally found a good table at a good price. I'm so excited that we can have everyone at the same table this year. Now if I could just add two more bedrooms then everyone would have a place to sleep. Oh, wait I have a better idea....just move here people and I won't have to run a hotel!! : ) Sorry, just my own little rant.<div><br /></div><div>P.S. I also got an email from Ian's dad yesterday....he wants to take him to Japan for Christmas. We will see, I will keep you posted.</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113447820213364392.post-46272906276508555992008-09-04T12:31:00.002-05:002008-09-04T12:40:40.962-05:00My PoliticsI had to do a little post today about our upcoming presidential election. Last night we watched Gov. Sarah Palin speak and all I can say is WOW! For me, it doesn't matter whether I am a Dem or for the GOP she was an amazing speaker that I think most of us moms could relate to and understand where she was coming from. This morning Cindy McCain said it best, she told Good Morning America that she didn't necessarily agree with everything Palin believes in but she respects her views. After last night, listening to her powerful speech, I didn't feel like she was another typical politician speaking down to me as a citizen. Instead she is a mom, a wife, a concerned citizen who knows what it is like to have high gas bills and feed seven mouths every night without the help of a personal chef! I too don't necessarily agree with everything Palin says but I sure do respect the lady. That is more than I can say for a lot of our Johnny come lately politicians. <div><br /></div><div>No matter who wins this race, I am happy to see that we are making change and this year we will make history one way or another. Let's hope that this wonderful change is not overshadowed by a bad leader later on down the road!</div>Gibson Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01808893745317899514noreply@blogger.com0
